My Improvement Plan

Skills and knowledge for me in this semester was all the formal knowledge given in every module from lecture classes and all the experiences that I gained by doing workshops and lab sessions which included different problem solving exercises. But since I still need to learn more and improve these skills, I have planned to use my different ways to improve in each module.

            In Logic module, I learned all about reasoning and its principle. Since I think I am not that good at finding validity of the arguments, I have planned to revise my lecture slides and seek help from internet in that topic to improve myself in this area. I would also like to improve in drawing logic gates faster and efficiently.

            In Introduction to Internet module, I know all the design techniques and skills that I learned from lecture classes but still I have to go back to revise some of the code and syntaxes. So I have planned to memorize basic codes, commands and syntaxes to design and execute interactive websites efficiently.

            In Further Programming module of Java, I learned different techniques of inheritance, polymorphism, etc. I have planned to improve myself in different GUI techniques and commands so that my projects can be interactive and I can solve different user required problems efficiently.

            Lastly, in Study Skills for Multimedia module, I learned how to write articles for blogs like this one, improved my reflective writing, learned different presentation skills and even learned how to work in a group effectively. My improvement in this module was mostly in my writing skills. I think I need to learn more presentation skills and gain experience from different presentations done by me or by others. So, I have planned to mainly focus in presentation skills and improve myself in this area.

Modules for this Semester

The four modules that I am studying in this semester are very helpful to my future as a multimedia student. I am really focused on each of these modules so that I can get more knowledge to enrich my skills and capabilities. The four modules that I am learning in this semester are Logic, Further Programming, Introduction to Internet and Study Skills for Multimedia.

            In Logic module, I am learning about principles of reasoning, logic gates and circuits and sets. I expect to all those needed principles required in digital reasoning and how different logical circuits, functions and expression works. This module will surely help me in different ways to summarize possibilities of the statements and to solve reasoning problems using different software.

            In Further Programming, I am learning more advanced level of java programming. With this module’s knowledge different requirements while coding can be easily fulfilled. I have learned different terms like inheritance, substitution, polymorphism, subtyping etc. This will surely help me to code different interactive programs and software to meet the requirement of the user.

            In Introduction to Internet, I am learning how to make an interactive website for different purposes using HTML, CSS, and Dreamweaver etc. With the knowledge from this module I am already making quite attractive website. I am expecting to learn more knowledge so that I can create website to accept input from user and process the data to get desired output using programming languages like JavaScript. This is very helpful for me in the future to design desired websites.

            In Study Skills in Multimedia, I am learning how to study in this university and gain more knowledge effectively from this college. This module is actually the main module which has helped how to effectively study, prepare coursework and follow rules for all the modules. This module has also increased my self confidence and I am expecting to learn more about how to create different presentations required in my future assessments in different modules.

My achievement and expectations

As I said in my previous blog post, I had this burning desire to learn and implement knowledge about video animation and music production. So, I started to learn them informally or on my own. My formal and academic achievements have helped me and I believe will help in my future education in this college. 

I got e-commerce and online jobs training after high school which helped me a lot for making blogs and writing essays. I also got 2D animation training of flash which helped me a lot in Enhanced Web Development.  I did some self study of programming languages like PHP, Action Script, JavaScript, HTML, etc. and that really made a strong base for me to learn, enhance and implement my knowledge of new or same programming language that I have to study in the course. I also did self study of useful programs and software like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Audition and FL studio to use and create different graphics and music.

I have really a lot of expectations from this course of study to broaden by knowledge and skills to achieve my goals. I really expect in fulfilling my desire to learn more and achieve specific goals on the area of multimedia from this course of study.


I expect to learn about video production and audio production of course. This is my main expectation. Next I surely expect to learn about 2D and 3D animations to use my imagination and creativeness on animation videos. Since expressing ideas to colleagues and teachers increases more knowledge, I expect to find mutual co-operation among my colleagues and teachers and help each other on different issues and problems. I expect to learn different new age popular programming languages to make projects more interactive and enhanced. And finally I expect to develop more self-confidence by exposing myself through presentations and group projects.

Islington College : My Important Decision

The environment can always be chaotic. Its not in our control. The only thing we control is ourselves and our valuable resources inside us. That can be our intellects and wisdom. Well as I know I am more creative and artistic I just wanted to increase more knowledge which is formal and organized. I was always interested in graphics, animations and game designing but I only had these tips, techniques I learned from my friends and brothers. What I was lacking was this formal education where I can solve any problems for inducing my imaginations into graphics, animations etc. As I have said earlier that environment is not controllable. We can get hit by any problems in our life. We just need to increase our skills and wisdom so that we can tackle that problem. This is the main reason for me to join Islington College as multimedia student.

My name is Pramesh Shrestha. I am from Swoyambhu, Kathmandu. Currently I am in 2nd semester of my course.

When I was going through the critical point of my life where I needed to decide what should I do and where should I need to go, I had no answers. I first thought to join engineering but then I realized I wanted that because every friend of mine was going for that. I then had to observe myself and ask this question: "What I really want to do in my life?" Then came the answer. I really want to do the thing that I love. I know I loved to design computer graphics and animations. I then decided to exactly plan my future. I just searched every colleges and institution but there was still something lacking. They would not offer specialized courses. So then I came across Islington College and then I decided to join this to achieve my goal. I believe in one thing. Any goal can be achieved by learning from those who are really good in that field or have already achieved that goal.
